Blind man beaten, robbed of Social Security disbability check

Posted on Thursday, August 5th, 2010 at 1:10 pm

A legally blind man from Michigan was beaten and robbed of his Social Security Disability funds by a group of young adults and teenagers.

The man was walking back from the store with a money order in one hand to pay his rent and the remaining cash in his pocket. The group pushed the blind man’s head into a rod iron fence, knocked him to the ground, began kicking him repeatedly and then robbed him.

Police are still looking for witnesses to help identify the perpetrators. Many community members were outraged by the attack and rallied around the man. They raised $600 for the man so that he could pay his bills.
