Woman charged for receiving Social Security illegally

Posted on Thursday, July 8th, 2010 at 9:12 am

A 41-year-old woman from Ohio was recently charged with receiving Social Security funds illegally.

The woman was charged with a one-count indictment for overpaying her Social Security benefits. In total, the woman overpaid the benefits by over $40,o00.

This case occurred because the woman did not tell officials that she was receiving child support because then she would not qualify for disability benefits. With these charges the woman could face up to 10 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250.000.
